Technology Effectiveness - Reflect on the technology components you've selected. Why are they effective tools for addressing the learning need you've identified?

The blogging is important for students to communicate through writing on what their opinions are and for them to share their thoughts online. Photostory is the most important for the project since it reflects their ending with the photos that are given. The survey is also important because it helps the teacher evaluate the project and whether or not it was valuable to the students. Creating the wiki allows students to access every step online.

Concepts and ideas of Library 2.0 and participatory library service - based on your readings, class discussions, and in class assignments, discuss the social use of information, and the creation of online collaboration and communities via social networking tools and what this shift means for school libraries in the 21st Century.

Librarians as well as teachers can collaborate any time they want to. They do not have to be in school as well as in that particular setting. If someone thinks of an idea, they can share it with the world right at that moment and time.
Technology Issues - Identify at least one potential problem or concern associated with the technology you've selected.

Uploading a photostory to YouTube can take a while which therefore means that the results will not be posted immediately.

Collaboration Issues - How did collaboration contribute to (or hinder) the project's success?

Pam and I worked together nicely and shared our thoughts throughout the past two weeks. If anything, she has helped me to understand certains aspects of creating a photostory and how to erase the words with using the paint program. Thanks Pam!

photostory project

This was interesting and fun, and it was one of my favorite projects so far. I enjoy playing with photos, but I did not so much like the narration part of the project since I do not like my voice.

Motivational Poster

This is a motivational poster to promote reading in the library. It is important to help reach all of the interests of the students and inform them that we provide a lot of genres in our collection.

creation of wordle

Wordle: information

This wordle explains the definition of information literacy which I would use to introduce teachers and students on the purpose of the library and some of the tools librarians offer. Wordle is a fun tool.

Social Networking

There are many beneficial aspects to social networking for students, teachers, and librarians. Since it is social, the idea of sharing each others information and resources helps in creating an exciting learning environment for students. It helps keep all the information we find online organized and easily accessible.
A social network like NING and Twitter informs professionals on updated events or feedback from events that we as librarians can take back to our schools. LibraryThing is a great way to promote new books as well as organizing a collection and it can be shared with students and parents. Delicious is by far one of the best social networks because it provides a collection of sites that you particularly desire and will observe again. It helps in not clouding up your favorites and you can share it with other librarians or teachers. After all, part of being a librarian is to collaborate, collaborate, collaborate!!!

Blogging in Education

Blogging is an important method to utilize in the classroom or school library. It is a way to communicate and share your own thoughts. In being a future librarian, I would use blogging as a way of communication through book discussions. For example, I would post a blog about a new award winning novel and have students comment on their opinion of the book. Therefore, it is almost as if the blogging tool is used as an online book club where people can share their thoughts any time of the day.
Another way to use blogging is if a teacher is having students complete a research project on a particular country, a blog could be set up that may help students come in contact with people from that country in which they are learning about. They are achieving primary resources as well as developing a good understanding of that culture.
